I have been a massage therapist for a little over eleven years. In my prior career, I was a counselor and victim advocate primarily for victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, domestic violence and for the survivors of homicide victims. I loved my work, although it was beginning to take its toll on me stress-wise. Even though I am not a counselor in the same sense that I was, I view touch therapy as an extension of counseling.

My primary goal as an LMT is to address both the physical pain and stress of my guests as well as the stress and pain that is to the mind and spirit. I can do deep tissue, but for more orthopedically oriented needs, I will refer them to someone who is especially gifted in those areas. That is not to say that I have not had athletes, and others with specific needs, as contented and assisted guests on my tables.

I have been trained in Trauma Touch, and very much like working with people dealing with PTSD, depression and anxiety disorders, as well as those dealing with image issues, such as weight, and beginners in learning that touch therapy can be of great help to those who have not experienced the healing side of healthy touch.

Essential Touch is very slow and rhythmic, so I most enjoy hour and a half sessions, but of course, I have people who prefer an hour, so I do that much of the time. I also do shorter, more area specific massages in forty minute time periods. I love Hot Stone Massage, scrubs and wraps as well. I very much believe that touch therapy must integrate care for body, mind and spirit. Giving a massage is a very Zen like experience for me, and I often feel that I have benefited, as much from giving, as those who are receiving.
